03principles behind every project
Replace, don’t stack
Many stores pay for several apps that each do part of a job and slow the storefront down. A single custom app or Shopify Function can often replace them — faster, cheaper over time and fully under your control.
Built on Shopify’s modern platform
We build with Shopify’s current tools — the GraphQL Admin API, Functions, App Bridge and theme app extensions — so your app stays fast, secure and upgrade-safe as Shopify evolves.
Part of the whole store
Apps work best alongside a well-built theme. Pair them with Shopify development, Shopify Plus features or an ongoing growth partnership.

Is this right for you?
An honest answer before you get in touch.
A good fit if
- You pay for several apps that together still do not fit your workflow
- Your team repeats the same manual task in the admin every day
- You need Shopify connected to an ERP, PIM or in-house system
- You need custom discount, shipping or checkout logic
Probably not yet if
- A well-reviewed App Store app already does the job
- The process itself is still changing week to week
- You have no budget for ongoing maintenance as APIs change
Before you commit
What usually goes wrong.
Most problems are cheap to prevent and expensive to find later. This is what we watch for.
- 01
Building what an app already does
Custom code for a solved problem costs more to build and maintain.
How we avoid itWe check the App Store and native features before writing code.
- 02
Apps that slow the storefront
Script-heavy apps add seconds to every page.
How we avoid itFunctions and theme app extensions load only where needed.
- 03
Fragile integrations
Sync jobs that fail silently leave stock and orders wrong.
How we avoid itRetries, logging and alerts are built in from day one.
- 04
Ignoring API versions
Shopify retires API versions regularly, and old apps break.
How we avoid itApps are kept on supported versions as part of support.
- 05
No owner after launch
Nobody knows how the app works when something changes.
How we avoid itYou get documentation, the code and a team that knows it.
Compare
An App Store app or a custom app?
Off-the-shelf is usually the right start. Custom wins when the fit, cost or speed is wrong.
| Compared on | App Store app | Custom app by Heseven |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | Built for thousands of stores | Built around your exact workflow |
| Cost over time | Monthly fees that grow with you | One build, then maintenance |
| Speed | Often loads scripts on every page | Native Functions and extensions |
| Data | Stored on the vendor’s servers | Stays in your Shopify or your cloud |
| Changes | Feature requests to a vendor | Your roadmap, your priorities |

FAQ
Custom App Development: questions, answered.
When do I need a custom Shopify app?
When no App Store app fits your workflow, when you are paying for several apps to do one job, or when you need to connect Shopify to an in-house system.
What is the difference between a private and a public app?
A custom (private) app is built for one store only. A public app is listed on the Shopify App Store for any merchant to install and must pass Shopify’s review.
Can a custom app slow my store down?
Not when it is built properly. We use Shopify Functions and theme app extensions, which run natively and load only where needed.
Who hosts and owns the app?
You own the code. We can host it on your own cloud account or manage hosting for you.
How long does it take to build a Shopify app?
Small Functions or integrations take a few weeks; larger apps with admin screens typically take 6–12 weeks.
